A2202-DFx 2-port 22 GHz VNA is frequency extender module and direct receiver access compatible. It is an anchor network analyzer for CMT’s frequency extension modules. For users requiring precision millimeter-wave measurements, this VNA enables seamless compatibility with our frequency extender modules at an exceptional value. The Direct Receiver Access (DRA) feature allows the use of an external directional coupler in place of the internal bridge, ideal for setups where a coupler is positioned between a preamplifier and a power amplifier, effectively excluding the preamp from the measurement.

 

This vector network analyzer delivers an impressive dynamic range of 135 dB and ultra-fast sweep speed as low as 12 µs/point, with all the advanced software features engineers have come to expect included standard in our software. Whether you’re characterizing filters, amplifiers, antennas, or high-speed interconnects, the A2202-DFx provides an unmatched combination of price and performance for S-parameter measurements from 100 kHz to 22 GHz.

 

A2202-DFx VNA includes an RF measurement module and the S2VNA software application which runs on Windows or Linux operating system on a PC, laptop, tablet, or x86 single-board computer connecting to the measurement hardware via USB interface. S2 software can be installed on multiple computers that share the use of the analyzer measurement module.

 

VNAs and ACMs are delivered with factory calibration certificates containing no data. The add-on option for ISO17025/Z540-1 Accredited, Traceable Calibration Certificate and Uncertainties is available and needs to be specified at time of order.

 

This VNA can be integrated into production test system via Manufacturing Test Plug-in.

A2202-DFx VNA is designed for high-performance applications like radar, satellite communications, and high-speed digital systems, providing precise 2-port S-parameter measurements from 100 kHz to 22 GHz.

 

The metrology-grade accuracy of A2202-DFx is ideal for demanding test environments like 5G production, Ku and K band RF component testing, and automotive or defense radar development. It’s also well-suited for signal integrity work on PCIe Gen4/5 and 100G Ethernet systems, where harmonics extend beyond 16 GHz.

 

Direct Receiver Access enables users to connect an external directional coupler directly to the VNA’s internal receivers. This external coupler can be inserted into the signal chain, such as between a preamplifier and a power amplifier, allowing accurate measurement of the power amplifier’s return loss and gain while excluding the preamplifier from the measurement.

 

This model is frequency extender module compatible, which allows the VNA to interface with a large range of millimeter-wave frequency extenders. Measurements up to 330 GHz can be supported in this way. For instance, an FET-WR12 extender supports frequencies from 60 to 90 GHz, allowing for the measurement of automotive radar systems.

 

Extenders from CMT are available for 20-55 GHz, 50-75 GHz (WR15), 60-90 GHz (WR12), 75-110 GHz (WR10), 90-140 GHz (WR8) and 110-170 GHz (WR06). Extenders from third parties are also compatible.

A2202-DFx VNA comes with all the software features engineers have come to expect, at no additional cost. Standard software features include:

  • Linear/logarithmic sweeps with multiple trace formats
  • Power sweeps
  • Time domain and gating conversion
  • Frequency offset mode
  • Fixture simulation (embedding/de-embedding)
  • 16 independent channels with up to 16 traces each
  • Markers with marker search tools and marker math, various conversion algorithms, and limit tests for pass/fail criteria, etc.
  • Test Automation programming in LabView, Python, MATLAB, .NET, etc.

 

CMT’s Manufacturing Test software plug-in is available to integrate the VNA into your production test system.
