Mini Case Study: R60 1-Port VNA in Antenna Design Examination for Ministry of Economic Affairs in Taiwan
CMT’s 1-Port Vector Network Analyzers have been recognized as a reliable VNA for evaluation of antennas designed and built by students and engineers. The R60 was recently accepted for Antenna Design Examination (ADE) conducted by the Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs, in Taiwan.
The ADE from the Taiwanese Industrial Development Bureau includes a practical portion which requires the engineer to design a single antenna for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. The engineer is tasked to design an antenna with VSWR of less than 2 for both the 2.4 GHz band and the 5 GHz band. They must also ensure sufficient bandwidth for each band of the antennas.
The images below depict pass/fail for VSWR in the RVNA software user interface for the R60 VNA.
Additionally, the designed antenna will have its S21 measurement compared against a standard trace provided by the test centre. The difference between the measured S21 and the standard trace of the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands must not be more than 4 db and 5 db respectively in order to pass the examination.
The images below depict pass/fail for S21 in the RVNA VNA software user interface.
